From banks and government to start-ups and AI platforms: a selection of client work.
I designed and built Caffeine’s CLI and its MCP server from a blank page, on my own. The MCP server lets AI assistants work directly with Caffeine, and I took it through to a listing in Anthropic’s Claude directory.
I designed and built a desktop agent that helps organisations move legacy software onto an AI app-building platform. No data leaves the user’s device until they have seen exactly what will be sent and approved it, and each approval is bound cryptographically to that payload and its destination. The data migration itself is deterministic, with no AI involved, and every record is verified after import.
Rilbo is an issue tracker you run yourself: one Rust executable with the web UI, API and MCP server built in, and all your data in a single SQLite file. Coding agents connect through MCP, with access you control.
Embedded in a high-security government delivery team, I built production services in C# with performance-critical components in Rust and Go, integrating with Azure Data Explorer and Event Hubs, behind rigorous automated testing and deployment gates.
ClearBank was the UK’s first new clearing bank in over 250 years. As the first member of a new department, I led a team of five, solved difficult and often ill-defined problems, and built software and automation to keep the bank running accurately and efficiently.
I migrated and rebuilt core services in TypeScript and Node.js, designed resilient service patterns, and strengthened CI/CD, runbooks and telemetry, improving reliability, observability and deployment safety.
I co-led the cloud architecture for a smart-metering digital transformation, built automated environment provisioning and tear-down for fast iteration and cost control, and turned platform standards into documented, usable patterns.
I led the migration of a legacy monolithic platform to a globally distributed microservices architecture on Azure PaaS, and designed and built the complete CI/CD pipeline from scratch.
I designed and built (or integrated) all of the society’s online member services.
Results
Over the years I’ve also worked with Virgin Experience Days, Havas Media Group, Baxter, Exos, Euromoney Institutional Investor, Thames Water, LeasePlan, Honda UK, SunGard and others, in roles ranging from senior developer to solution architect and independent technical assessor.
